In the Winter of 2020/2021, the Citrus Pest and Disease Prevention Division (CPDPD) is planning out work on an experimental basis with 3D “attract-and-kill” traps, which can collect Asian citrus psyllids into a preservative, allowing the insects to be tested for Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas), the causal agent of the citrus disease Huanglongbing. In light of this, in January 2021 the Operations Subcommittee asked DATOC to review other available methods of trapping ACP and recent research on the subject. The subject was discussed among the expert panel, we performed a review of the literature, and a final briefing was completed at the end of February, to be presented to the subcommittee on March 3, 2021.
